I wanted to wish all my LJ friends Happy Holidays. If you don’t know the past week and following days are the holiest days of the Jewish faith, Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.

I try to only make happy journal entries, but holiday season started off pretty badly for me. My father passes away on the 29th, just before the beginning of Rosh Hashanah. I am currently at his house in Ormond Bch. Florida, trying to get the house cleaned out and get it on the market, while also trying to get through the holidays alone. I'm supposed to be at Temple and I've started to get dressed twice and just took my cloth off each time and crawled back into bed.

Sorry about your Dad ... mine left about 10 years ago. My Mom is turning 99 at the end of January ... she's a real survivor.

My Dad was Jewish ... kind of ... my family practised nothing except for a few years ... and dropped it because my Dad and the Rabbi got into a fight. Actually the Rabbi was just doing what Rabbis do, I think Dad was just not cut out for faith-oriented things. And neither was I for any number of years ...

I attend a temple though ... but a different kind of temple ... a Hare Krishna temple. It's very special to me too!

Thank you for your reply and condolences. My mother died about five years ago. It's very strange to be without both of them now. I was raised as a conservative jew leaning toward orthodox.
